Pregnancy Highlights 32 weeks (8 months)

How far along? 32 weeks 2 days

Baby's size? Almost 4lbs/17" according to websites/books

Gender? Boy! Samuel Jeffery.

Weight Gain? 20lbs (all since 20 weeks).

Maternity clothes? of course. If we are just staying around the house, I usually wear a sundress or a pair of cotton maternity shorts and t-shirt. If we are going somewhere, I usually wear my capris and a pretty shirt. I have a few yard-sale finds that I love.

Stretch marks? Only 1 new stretch mark that I see and it's tiny, but all my old ones are definitely getting stretched back out, but they aren't red (yet, lol).

Belly button in or out? Still a deep-innie, unless I am laying down and then it's not as deep.

Sleeping? Not enough....Even w/nap time during the day. Hello insomnia & over-thinking.

Foods I'm loving? Pretty much every thing, haha...Still really into cereal, but trying not too eat it too much because of the high sugar contents. Love pizza. Love eating out, of course.

Foods I'm hating? Nothing I didn't hate before.

Best moment this week? Feeling Sammy move so much, even though a lot of movements hurt me, I do love it. I love knowing he's strong & healthy in there and very active. I know I will miss it when he comes out, so I try to cherish it...even though I say "OUCH!!!" a lot, haha.

What I'm looking forward to? Basically, getting the c-section over with and just having him here already. Not that I'm not enjoying just having one baby, but I'm ready to get my body back and lose some weight and feel better physically and feel better about myself. (Same answer as before, except I am really looking forward to seeing what he looks like & how Anna reacts!)

What I miss? Being able to sleep on my back, roll over normally in bed, sleeping, being able to pick Anna up w/o hurting.

Symptoms? Just weepy about everything, but that's pretty normal for me, even when I'm not pregnant. I'm totally a "wear-your-heart-on-your-sleeve" kind, and very sentimental anyways, so I'm a lot of fun during pregnancy, haha...

Weekly Wisdom: He will be here soon!!!! That's all I have, haha...I'm excited to see him and kiss him & to see how Anna loves him, too. & See Wesley have a little baby BOY!!

Milestones: My next appt. is August 22nd (I will be 33 weeks). I am setting my c-section date!! Hopefully Oct 4!

Emotions: Yep! Read previous blog post about Anna growing up....

My little Anna

I was having a really hard time yesterday thinking about Anna growing up and how much she is NOT a baby anymore--She's an extremely active, smart, little toddler! I was feeling really sad/crying (hello pregnancy hormones, plus my normal super-emotional self anyways).

I then started thinking about how I am having another baby and I won't be able to give her all of my attention like I have been able to since she was born (esp. the first 6 months when it was just me/her). I was really sad when God put this thought in my head---I am blessed!!! Of course I already know that, and I tell myself and others that all the time, but I don't always stop to think about HOW we are blessed and how MUCH we are blessed.

He put this perspective in my head: She is healthy! It's just part of life for babies to grow up (we were all once babies & had to grow up) and I should be very thankful/grateful that she is here on this earth and is healthy, so I CAN watch her grow up. I know not all people are blessed to have children, and I know not all parents are blessed by TIME with their children. Not all children are here on this earth for very long & everyday I thank God for Anna and that she is healthy and I pray that we all continue to have our health.

He also put this in my head: Wesley/I are healthy (for now, may we never take this for granted). I have a couple of friends, YOUNG friends, mothers, who are battling cancer right now. They have young children, whom they may not get to see 'grow up'. I pray for them every day and for their families. I pray that Wesley gets to spend the time with his children that he didn't get with his dad & I pray that I will grow old enough to see my grandchildren, since my dad wasn't able to do so.

I also need to remind myself that I absolutely LOVE the little lady that Anna is becoming. I cannot stop her from growing up, but I know we sure can mold who she is and how she grows up. I pray she has a love for the Lord, for other people (which is already very evident), and for herself. I pray that she continues to be healthy, strong, funny, smart, and beautiful, inside & out. I also hope that we have a great relationship as she grows older, as I know my mother and I didn't always have that and it breaks my heart.

....& I pray that she loves her brother very much, because he will be here all too soon, like it or not :-) Then I can start crying about how little he is and a few months after that I will have to remind myself that he is growing up, too.....

....& I'm sure we will be so proud of the big sister Anna has become!

Pregnancy Highlights: 6 months (24 weeks)

Pregnancy Highlights

How far along? 24 weeks 1 day

Baby's size? a little over a pound, according to websites/books

Gender? Boy! Samuel Jeffery.

Weight Gain? Somewhere around 10lbs, all of which I have gained in the past 4 weeks!

I think I got all my stretch marks when I was pregnant with Anna...thinking I'm already ALL stretched out...hoping there isn't anymore stretching, just growing, lol...So, no new ones!

Belly button in or out? Still a deep-innie, unless I am laying down and then it's not as deep.

Sleeping? Depends on the night & on Anna. The past couple of weeks she has actually been sleeping most of the night in her crib in her room, big improvement from sleeping in our bed most of the night. However, last night was a bad night, so we still have those! I occasionally wake up to get a snack. Last night I just had a glass of chocolate milk at 3am.

Foods I'm loving? Cereal, just like last time. Chocolate milk. Pizza. Ok...pretty much every thing. I haven't found anything I detest right now, but it was tuna...I think I'm ok with it now.

Foods I'm hating? Nothing really.

Best moment this week? Feeling Sammy and watching him make my belly lopsided...already! He is already so strong, I can't imagine what the next 15 weeks will be like!

What I'm looking forward to? Basically, getting the c-section over with and just having him here already. Not that I'm not enjoying just having one baby, but I'm ready to get my body back and lose some weight and feel better physically and feel better about myself.

What I miss? Losing weight and seeing the number go DOWN on the scale instead of UP! lol
Symptoms? Still a little round ligament pain here and there, pelvic pain (SPD) is getting worse, & fatigue! Annnnd lovely pregnancy-hormone induced emotions! lol

Weekly Wisdom: Well, lately I have been getting a little overwhelmed, with my lack of sleep & such, that I won't ever get any sleep again...So I just need to remember to take it one day at a time and ask for help when I need it. Obviously that won't be so easy, since we are 700 miles away from family and friends and most people we trust, but I do have a couple good friends here that I know will help me out! Hoping anyways ;-)

Milestones: My next appt on July 10th (I'll be 27-28 weeks) is the one where they will test me for gestational diabetes. I have to drink the orange drink before my appt and then come in and get tested. Hoping & praying it's negative.

Emotions: Wow...Well, I was actually doing really well up until a couple weeks ago, mostly this past weekend. I was ordering shutterfly pictures to put up around the house, so I looked back through ALL the pictures of Anna from birth-now and wow that made me sad. Also I have been missing my family/friends/HOME like crazy. I have been trying really hard not to talk to anyone about it and just to ignore it myself, hoping it would go away, but I miss home, Indiana, so much! I miss my nieces/nephews so much! I am sad that Anna can't get to know her family and cousins and friends as she's growing up. Sad that I can't take her to tall the cool places I wanted to share with my children around home. Church, the cool parks at home, library, etc. You may say oh you have all that there, but it's not the same, at all. Ugh...Anyways...It was also Father's Day. Sad about my dad, Wesley's dad, etc...So just a mess lately, haha.

Cloth Diapering Journey #2

We are still using a mixture of disposables & cloth diapers. So things have been messy, but only just a little. Not big enough to turn me away from these cute cloth diapers!  I have found my favorite brand: Grovia AI2. They have snap in liners and extremely cute shells. It's so easy to unsnap a dirty one and snap in a new one and go! The only thing is that the liners themselves are around $18 for two, but that is what I want more of, if I ever have any more money, haha.
Here are some pictures:

This is my entire "stash" of cloth diapers so far...

Anna in the Grovia diaper....airplanes ;)

This diaper is called a "Little Joey", it's for Sammy because it's a newborn-sized diaper. It's so cute and so soft. It even has a snap there in the middle for the umbilical cord.

Also, I have started washing all my diapers in the "Rockin' Green" laundry detergent. It seems to work just fine, but I think when it's all gone I won't be purchasing anymore...It's just too expensive. I need to look into a more budget-friendly option!

CD Journey #1

Ok, so here at "The Kitchen Table", I have talked about so many different topics, with the majority being recipes and pictures of delicious food. However, for the next few blog posts I am going to take on a brand new topic to me...cloth diapers! I have always been interested in cloth diapers, but never looked into it for my family, until my new friend/neighbor here in NC gave me an early baby present (for Mr. Samuel). She bought me two "BumGenius" (a brand) pocket-style, one size cloth diaper. One is a beautiful turquoise color and has all snaps and the other one is the "Albert" print (after Albert Einstein, it is black and has numbers and signs, etc) which has what they call the "hook and loop", commonly referred to as velcro.

They looked so cute, but I had no idea what to do with them! I started researching online and asking FB friends who are pros at CDing (cloth diapering). The CDing community has a language of it's own, and it's all quite confusing in the beginning. Also, there are so many different brands of diapers (BumGenius, GroVia, Kiwi Pie, Fuzzibunz, and other crazy names, haha), types (pocket, all in one, snaps, velcro, etc), sizes (some are suitable for 8-35lbs, some are specifically for newborns, or like disposables they have different sizes), etc...A bit overwhelming, but I became obsessed with going to websites (especially www.thegreennursery.com since it is local to Bloomington, IN, where I'm from), going to youtube.com to look at 'how-to' videos and reviews, and asking tons of questions to some of my friends.

So, I decided I would try them out on Anna, at least one or two CDs a day, the rest would be our normal disposable diapers. I was really nervous about what Wesley would think, but decided to just do it...

But first, I needed to figure out how to wash these things. I watched vidoes, I asked friends, and I researched on several websites. There are specific CD detergents, or apparently you can make your own somehow. I guess you are suppose to do a cold rinse first, then put your washer on the hottest setting, using your special detergent. Bummer, I didn't have any CD detergent yet, sooooooooooo I am probably going to get in trouble here, but I just used a tiny bit of my regular detergent (All Baby). The diapers I was given have a "shell" and since they are "pocket" diapers, it means there are liners that you stuff inside it. So the actual diaper I hang up to dry, and the liners I just put in the dryer with with some towels, and voila...Once the diapers have dried, I get very giddy, put the liners in the diapers, and stick on Anna. Wow, she looks so cute in them!

"Oh wait, what if she poops in that thing!!??!", I start thinking frantically. Crap! Literally! So, I look it up. Apparently there is a mini sprayer (like the one you might have on your kitchen sink) that you can attach to your toilet to spray the poopies away. Well, I don't have one of those..."Oh man, is that her pooping face?" Wesley looks worried, too. haha. Yep, she pooped in it. So, here we go....Luckily, it wasn't a yucky, sticky poop...just some rabbit pellets (poor thing, she's been a little constipated since we've started regular milk and stopped baby foods). Whew....that one was easy, they all plopped in the toilet. (Wow, am I a mom or what, talking so openly about poop!!)

So far, no nasty poops that we were disgusted by, and a lot of pee diapers...This was going pretty smoothly so far, so I asked Wesley what he thought about them (and ultimately, what he thought about buying more). The only con he has is that he can't tell if Anna needs a diaper change, because the Luvs diapers we normally use swell up if she has peed in it, and well...you can tell if she has pooped either way, haha. Wow, I was surprised, he was actually open to using these things, and possibly trying out some other ones. Ok, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, he is Mr. "That can be recycled!!",  and we've tried to do a few other 'green' things in our life, but this to me was BIG, because these CDs are expensive and quite an investment. So I show him a couple of the websites I've been looking at, especially the Green Nursery site, and show him all the different kinds and cute patterns. He's open to it, but ultimately he is leaving it up to me! (So Wesley!)

Ok, over the past few days I have added items to my cart on that website, and deleted them, and added something else, and put some detergent in my cart, and different kinds of diapers and I think I am finally ready to submit my first order!! I believe I have two or three different brands of diapers and a couple different types, to see which I like best before investing all my "eggs in one basket". I am so excited to start this new journey and see if  it's really for us and see if we want to CD full time! (Seems a bit overwhelming, but I feel like it could really save us some money, since we will all too soon have two babies in diapers!!! ahh!)

So, here we go.....'Til next time! :) Wish us luck...haha...

Taco Ring

Taco Ring:

-leftover taco meat (93/7 ground beef, w/taco seasoning, onions & garlic, about 1.5 cups)
-shredded montery/jack cheese (1/2 cup in the mix and 1/2 cup on top of crescent rolls)
-half cup mayo
-1/3 can of green chiles
-1/4 cup of salsa (I used garlic/lime salsa)

-crescent rolls (I used great value brand and I believe they were the "thick" kind)
-sour cream on top

Preheat oven to 375. Mix meat, cheese, mayo, chiles, & salsa. Lay out crescent rolls in circle on baking pan, with the wider end in the middle. Fill the wide part of roll with meat mixture. Take pointed end of rolls and roll them over and under the wide part. Top with more cheese. Bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until rolls are done and cheese is melted, and until it looks really delicious :-)

Breakfast Casserole

This is my momma's recipe. Gotta give credit where it's due:

Breakfast Casserole:
*1 bag of "potatoes o'brien" (if you've never heard of those, it's diced up potatoes with green & red peppers & onions, really good!)

*1 lb. of sausage (We used ground turkey sausage, of course...Shadybrook farms breakfast sausage, you should check it out!)

*6 eggs

*2 cups of cheese (We used colby/montery jack)

Preheat oven to 300*. Spray 9 x 13 pan with cooking spray. Place potatoes in pan and bake for 30 minutes, whilst you're cooking the sausage and whisking together the eggs. Then, when that's all done pour the sausage & eggs over the potatoes & then sprinkle on the cheese, bake for another 20-30 minutes.

This recipe is fun, because you can switch it up. You could use ham, bacon, or any other kind of sausage; hashbrowns or potatoes, and any other kind of cheese. You could also add vegetables or spices of your liking!

Turkey-Cheddar Taco Burgers

Sounds unhealthy, right? They look unhealthy, but in all reality, the burger itself is under 200 calories! Amazing... :)

Ok, so don't make fun of me, but....this is my FIRST, you read it, FIRST time making burgers. I just don't like touching raw meat, it kind of disgusts me, but I went for it today! It turned out well, I think...

Okay, here's the recipe, which I concocted myself (be proud! lol):

1 lb. ground turkey (I use Shadybrook Farms 97% Fat Free-Extra Lean White Ground Turkey)

1 taco seasoning mix (I used Great Value-all of it)

2 tsps each of minced onion & garlic (I used dehydrated minced from Tone's)

1/2 cup Kraft shredded fat free cheddar cheese

1 tsp. cumin

Salt & Pepper to taste

1. Put all ingredients in large bowl and mix together.
2. Score the meat, you know..like Rachael Ray does on her show, so that you have 4 equal patties (but feel free to make them smaller...like sliders, if you wish).
3. Put on George Foreman Grill (or any other grill).
4. Make sure meat is hot enough, I used a thermometer to make sure my largest patty (oops somehow one was bigger than the others) was at the right temp. At least 160*.

5.....Calories per burger: 195---Success!!!

Okay...now the fun part. I used a Hungry Girl Flatout Foldit-Wheat for my 'bun' (If you have not checked these out yet, at Walmart, you are crazy...they are so awesome for pizzas!). Then I topped with a little bit of bagged salad (I had premium romaine on hand), and a tbsp. of salsa. So Good....my lunch was under 300 calories! YAY....

Egg-in-a-Hole

Cut hole in bread. I used bottom of small glass.

Crack egg into bread. I broke the yolks in mine.
Flip once and then wa-la, this is what you have ladies & gentleman!
So easy & yummy,  & good for you, too!
